Well keep you in touch on issues relevant to older people and give updates about The Home Straight’s services. For example:

We won a Change Fund award (March 2013) to work with Social Enterprise East Lothian. One outcome is to team up again to prototype our ‘Home For Life Toolkit’ and and (g)old, a wellbeing ‘Hub’ concept for older people which actively brokers them into opportunities and advice about activities, products, services and conveniences bespoke to their needs and interests. If you live in East Lothian, or are thinking of moving and downsizing to East Lothian, please contact us as we’d love to hear your views on how any of our current or planned services could help!

Over the summer (of 2013) we secured a major two year contract in Aberdeen City, also supported through the Change Fund, co-leading an enablement training programme for workers in both Care Homes and Care at Home.

We’ve also just heard (December 2013) that we have won a Scottish Funding Council Innovation Voucher to allow us to work with Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art and Design, Ninewells Hospital and the University of Dundee’s Division of Mechanical Engineering to examine the feasibility of using 3D printing as a manufacturing method for items of adaptive equipment for older people
